The 27th General Convention of The AALC is just days away!
We will be gathering at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church of Deephaven on Monday, October 26th, 2020 for our General Convention. Our event will begin with Registration (from 1:00 to 4:30 PM) at the host hotel, the Country Inn & Suites of Plymouth, MN. We will meet for dinner (5:00 PM) and worship (7:00 PM) that Monday night at Grace Lutheran, with the official convening of our Convention beginning at 8:30 AM Tuesday morning. For those getting in late, we will also have additional Convention Registration at the church Tuesday morning.
We want to encourage all pastors and laity that cannot attend our Convention in person to join us on our Zoom Meeting platform. This is an easy way to watch and/or participate in the Convention from the comforts of your home or office. Registration for virtual attendance to the Convention is just $15 and can be accessed through our TAALC website: https://www.taalc.org/donate.
Participating through Zoom is as easy as opening your email and clicking a button. Convention Delegates online will be able to vote and even address the Convention as if you were on the Convention floor! Please note: We are providing a training class on Wednesday, October 22nd at 3:30 PM (Eastern Time) for anyone uncertain about Zoom and how it works. At this training meeting our instructors (Dr. Jordan Cooper and Lisa Cooper) will gladly walk you through the very easy learning process. All you need is a computer or smart phone and an email address.
In addition, we will be livestreaming both our Monday, October 26th and Tuesday, October 27th evening Convention worship services, also through Zoom. Both of these worship services will begin at 8:00 PM (Eastern Time) and we encourage you to participate. If you so desire, we can email you worship bulletins for each service. Simply send an email request to Bonnie at theaalc@taalc.org and we will get them to you.
Please note that the Zoom links to join either or both Monday and Tuesday evening worship can be found below. It is important to understand that one link is for Monday night and the other is for Tuesday night. The links are NOT interchangeable.
If you are planning to attend the General Convention (Virtual) as either a visitor or a Congregational Delegate, please register as soon as possible. Once you are registered, we will email you a Convention Packet and further instructions on how to use Zoom, and other basic Convention information. A Procedure Document for Online Participants can be found below. Please be sure to review this document prior to registering.
If you have registered for online participation already, your convention packet will be emailed to you soon. That email will include the Zoom links needed to join the Convention proceedings on Tuesday and Wednesday. Please note the links are NOT interchangeable.
